I want to renovate my property before I sell. Should I have the property tested for possible methamphetamine contamination prior to renovating?
Yes. You should always have the property tested prior to renovating. Many times All Surface Decontamination Limited have attended sites where the customers have paid tens of thousands of dollars for renovations, and a simple pre purchase methamphetamine inspection was conducted only to find contamination, and therefore the renovation costs have been money down the drain.
How do I know if I am insured for methamphetamine contamination?
Know your policy and what it covers. Check your policy. Ask questions of your insurer to ensure you are correctly covered. If your current policy does not cover methamphetamine contamination, ask what changes you need to make to ensure methamphetamine contamination is incorporated. In particular, know what your policy requirements are and ensure you or your representative comply with the requirements of your particular insurance; for example – some insurance companies request you inspect your rental property every month, some require three or six monthly inspections to comply with the policy.

Should analysis findings reveal levels above 0.5µg/100cm²; • The property is to be vacated immediately. • Contents/Personal Items should be sampled prior to removal from the contaminated property. • No unauthorised access is allowed until decontamination has obtained levels of 0.5µg/100cm² or less, and clearance for occupancy is received. Should analysis findings reveal levels of 0.5µg/100cm² or lower; • No decontamination is required. • The property is safe for occupancy.
